PLEASE NOTE:

Periodically, the
Foundation may announce funding initiatives, possibly in conjunction
with other charitable funding organizations. In these cases,
the Foundation will publish a Request for Proposal with specific
guidelines and deadlines.

The Foundation will
also occasionally make Challenge Grants, whereby the recipient
charitable organization will be required to raise funds from other
sources in order to receive a matching gift from Mountainside Health
Foundation.

Projects We Will
Consider Funding
Charitable organizations determined by the Internal
Revenue Service to be tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Code,
that are located in, or providing services to
one or more of the following communities: Montclair, Glen Ridge, Essex
Fells, Verona, Cedar Grove, Clifton, Bloomfield, Little Falls, Nutley,
Roseland, Fairfield, Caldwell, West Caldwell, North Caldwell and West
Orange.
The following areas of health improvement
have special interest to the Foundation:

Improving access to
healthcare

Mental Health
-
Obesity / Nutrition /
Healthy Lifestyle
-
Seniors / Aging in the
Community
Projects that include
direct service provision, prevention education, and/or community
education.
Demonstration projects
(designed to be replicated by other charitable service providers); pilot
projects (which may result in new and better ways in which to provide
charitable services); and collaborative projects between two or more
organizations.
Research studies and capital needs directly tied to charitable
projects in the Foundation's areas of interest listed above.
Renewal grants for two
years following the initial grant, as deemed appropriate.
Thereafter, the Foundation expects the organization to continue the
project with funds from other sources or to absorb it into its operating
budget.
